Comics!

Yes. I was at Komikon 2013. Met Ian Sta. Maria, the artist for SKYWORLD. And had my artist sketch of Emma Frost by Carlo Pagulayan, an artist from Marvel. Pardon my inner geek's excitement. :)

Books, books and more books!!

This is my nephew, AJ, and I trying to organize the 100+ books on my bed. The little one exclaimed, "This is the best book day ever!" Haha. I love this kid.

On words and photos

I just started on a new hobby, digital photography. I have always been inspired by scenes and events around me. And I write my stories based on them. Now I want to be a part of the creative process and take it to the next level of taking the pictures manually.

It's a lot of work adjusting the settings of the DSLR but that's the challenge for me. Hopefully I can buy a camera before the year ends.

I am still working on my story project. The busier, the better. Here's to a very productive month ahead.

traveling once more

My first trip out of the country
Singapore birthday for me!
I really want to spend more time traveling this year. After a year of personal loss and financial gain, I think it's time to focus on myself.

I had a nice birthday surprise when I received  a notification about my travel write up. Here's my first travel review as Kathy R in tripadvisor.com
"The ad through Metrodeal was accurate. The place is lovely and situated in the mountainside. Our balcony has a wonderful view of the mountaintop, with clouds rolling by. We didn't need the AC because of the cool breeze wafting in our rooms.

The people are friendly and accommodating. The wife of the owner even gave us some red wine when we had a drinking session during our last night there. The food was excellent. You get your money's worth.

The room was clean and the restroom was very spacious. It's a wonderful place to be alone and forget about the worries of city life.

For activities, we swam in their pool and trekked to Aninuan Falls. The trek is quite far so if your muscles are not used to scaling large rocks and walking through a a stream with a strong current then you might want to go snorkeling or diving. They also provide trips to the Hidden Cave and the Giant Clam Garden. They offer in house massages as well, especially when you get tired after all those activities.

Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely go back with my friends."
Will post my Singapore adventure soon. Here's to a great year ahead!

Busy new year

My commitment for 2013 is to read through my book stack (including the 92 books I bought last year) and write more especially for my list of unfinished works like Project 21, the sci-fi novel JANUS, the food essays, the travel essays, art review, and horror stories waiting for my attention.

I have a lot on my plate and I am excited to begin. Looking forward to a productive year!
